Boys basketball

No. 1 North Lawndale 98, Clemente 44

North Lawndale’s big three of Jonathan Mills, Terry Johnson and John Taylor combined for 48 points as the Phoenix improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the Public Red-West. Mills had 21 points and 11 rebounds, Johnson scored 11 points and dished out seven assists and Taylor added 16 points and four steals.

No. 2 Young 71, Manley 39
Young won its Public West opener and improved to 2-1 overall with the victory.

No. 9 Simeon 95, Washington 24
Simeon (1-2) earned its first victory of the season in its Public Red-South opener.

Farragut 58, No. 19 Crane 53
Farragut (3-3) pulled off the upset in both teams’ Public Red-West openers, handing No. 19 Crane (6-1) its first loss of the season.
