Nine of 52 cars on a freight train derailed and landed on their sides Thursday morning, closing more than a mile of Jericho Road in Aurora but causing no injuries. The derailment, being investigated by Burlington Northern Santa Fe authorities, was reported about 3:15 a.m. on tracks that run parallel to Jericho Road, which was closed between Illinois Highway 31 and Edgelawn Drive.
