’10th Annual A Home for the Holidays With Faith Hill’
7 p.m., WBBM-Ch. 2
The country singer lends extra star power to the latest edition of the annual special that advocates adoption. As always, it offers true stories of families that have benefited from taking in a new member. Other performers include Gavin Rossdale, Jamie Foxx and Tim McGraw — a.k.a. Mr. Hill. Kristin Chenoweth, Patricia Heaton, Rene Russo and Martin Short also are scheduled to appear.
‘Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas’
7 p.m., WLS-Ch. 7
Boris Karloff narrates an animated tale about a curmudgeon and merry Whoville; author Theodor Geisel, animator Chuck Jones and other artists recall creating the 1966 holiday classic.
‘Babes in Toyland’
7 p.m., WPWR-Ch. 50
Fans of the Victor Herbert operetta should steer clear of this fast-and-loose 1986 adaptation. But it’s great fun to watch for the camp value and the chance to see a pre-“Bill & Ted” Keanu Reeves. Drew Barrymore stars as young Lisa, who lands in Toyland and becomes embroiled in the battle to save it from mean Barnaby Barnacle (Richard Mulligan). She also needs to save Mary Contrary (Jill Schoelen) from Barnaby so she can marry her love, Jack Be Nimble (Reeves).
