Observing an annual tradition, the CTA will charge customers one penny to ride buses and trains on New Year’s Eve.
One penny rides will begin at 8 p.m. Wednesday and continue until 6 a.m. Thursday.
All CTA lines will operate on a regular schedule Wednesday, but on a holiday schedule on New Year’s Day.
On New Year’s Day, the No. 4 Cottage Grove bus will operate all night between Washington/State and 95th/Cottage.
The southbound No. 6 Jackson Park Express will operate every 15 minutes until 3:15 a.m. The last northbound No. 6 will leave 79th/South Shore Drive at 2:15 a.m.
The No. 65 Grand bus will operate westbound from Navy Pier to Grand and Nordica until 3 a.m. The last eastbound bus will leave Grand and Nordica at 2:15 a.m.
The last trip on all Brown, Orange, Pink and Green Line trains will leave downtown at 1:30 a.m. at the following stations:
– Brown Line, Washington/Wells
– Green Line, Adams (northbound) and Clinton (southbound)
– Orange Line, Library-State/VanBuren
– Pink Line, Clark/Lake
– Purple Line trains will operate from Howard to Linden until 2 a.m.
