Everybody’s laugh is different. Some cackle and some laugh without making any noise.
“In general, I just have a chuckle. When something really gets me, I have that horrible — when you take that inhale and you snort,” said Timothy Edward Mason, cast member of Second City Etc.
He’s heard all kinds of laughs from the audience. When he heard a chimpanzee-sounding laugh, he said he started giggling at it. A laugh before the punch line can be annoying, he said. “There’s people who laugh at the wrong time, they’re joke killers,” he said. And then there’s the polite chuckle or hiss laugh. Mason said that laugh means, “you really tried hard there to make us laugh and you really didn’t.”
