*”The Black Hole” ** 1/2 (U.S.; Gary Nelson, 1979). Disney’s answer to “Star Wars” takes too long to deliver the space goods. The cast — including Maximilian Schell, Anthony Perkins and Yvette Mimieux — also couldn’t compete with Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill. Midnight Fri., Sat.
*”Heavy Traffic” *** (U.S.; Ralph Bakshi, 1973). An X-rated animated film detailing the efforts of a frustrated cartoonist to grow up in a black-Italian-Jewish New York ghetto. Midnight Fri., Sat.
*”The Sting” *** 1/2 (U.S.; George Roy Hill, 1973). This tale of two Chicago flim-flam artists (played by Paul Newman and Robert Redford) is a movie movie, one that’s obviously been made with loving care — especially in plot construction — every step of the way. The film makes good, if limited use, of its Chicago locations. 11:30 a.m. Sat., Sun.
