As Israel continued its aerial assault on the Gaza Strip for the seventh straight day Friday, several hundred people (above) gathered around the sculpture in Pioneer Court on North Michigan Avenue to protest the violence. Organizers addressed the crowd with bullhorns, leading chants of “Free, free, Palestine.” The demonstration eventually spilled across the Michigan Avenue bridge to East Wacker Drive. The outpouring mirrored similar protests Friday around the world. Meanwhile, a smaller number (right) assembled across the Chicago River, outside the Israeli Consulate, in support of Israel.
