Nikolai Khabibulin made 34 saves, Martin Havlat, Andrew Ladd and Patrick Sharp each had a goal and an assist, and the Blackhawks rebounded from consecutive losses to Detroit to beat Calgary 5-2 on Sunday night.
Kris Versteeg and Dustin Byfuglien also scored for the Blackhawks, swept by Detroit in a home-and-home series that featured the Winter Classic after winning a franchise-record nine straight games. Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith had two assists.
Todd Bertuzzi and Daymond Langkow scored for Calgary. The Blackhawks ended the Flames’ winning streak at five and snapped their points streak at 10 games (7-0-3). Calgary hadn’t lost in regulation since Dec. 9 at Montreal.
Blackhawks scoring leader Patrick Kane was sidelined by a high-ankle sprain, the first time he has missed a game in his NHL career because of an injury. Kane was injured Tuesday night in a 4-0 loss at Detroit.
The rookie of the year last season, Kane played nearly 18 minutes despite pain on Thursday in the Blackhawks’ 6-4 loss to the Red Wings in the Winter Classic at Wrigley Field. He’s listed as day-to-day.
Khabibulin stopped 19-of-20 shots in the third period to help the Blackhawks improve to 12-1-4 at the United Center. The Blackhawks are 12-2-4 overall at home, including the loss at Wrigley Field.
