What’s a hot trend at your school? The “preppy” look, although wardrobes are very unique because they don’t have school uniforms.
Biggest event of the school year: The KCP Band traveled to the Washington, D.C., area to perform in the Presidential Inauguration Heritage Muisc Festival at George Mason University.
Favorite after-school hangouts: The foyers, second-floor bridge, workout and weight room, Golden’s (chicken and fish), McDonald’s, band room
Best cafeteria food: Spicy chicken sandwich with barbecue sauce; pizza; nachos; barbecue french fries
School traditions: “King goes to College Day” where underclassmen go to colleges in Chicago, and seniors stay at school to do college applications, scholarship searches and financial aid forms. Prom’s a big deal too. After Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) testing, there’s always a barbecue for the juniors. The principal is said to be a fan of barbecue.
