Burger King pulled its “Whopper Sacrifice” promotion because Facebook didn’t like that it notified users who got defriended for free burgers. According to BK’s Web site, 233,906 friends were removed by 82,771 people in less than a week.
2. ‘Idol’ singers
It’s a hot time to be a former “American Idol” singer: Jennifer Hudson will sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, the same song Jordin Sparks nailed at the NFC Championship Game.
3. Stress test
mtvU and The Associated Press put out a poll about college students’ stress. In the past three months, 63 percent say they’ve been so stressed they couldn’t do school work. More than half (55 percent) didn’t want to hang out with friends.
4. ‘Gossip,’ fer sure!
A “Gossip Girl” spinoff will flash back to character Lily van der Woodsen’s Valley Girl days in the 1980s, according to TV Week. Like, totally.
5. Fall Out follies
Pete and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz are going to play “Bonnie and Clyde-like couple” on “CSI: NY,” people.com reports. Meanwhile, Fall Out Boy will perform a rendition of “The Simpsons” theme song during Sunday’s episode.
