In the wake of Entertainment Weekly’s speculation this week that Joaquin Phoenix — with the aid of brother-in-law Casey Affleck — was conducting an elaborate ruse in transforming from actor to rapper, Affleck’s rep denied that the switch is a hoax. In a statement to People.com Thursday, the spokeswoman said, “Unfortunately, Joaquin has had to make this transition in the spotlight of fame.” Um, yeah.
