Isn’t that sweet?
Give Me Some Sugar cooking classes, 312-546-4788, givesugar.com
Check it out if you … Want to learn more about cooking but can’t seem to fit other classes into your schedule, are looking for a sweet way to entertain a bunch of friends, would like to prepare a meal for someone special but don’t know how.
The details: Give Me Some Sugar offers a series of about two-hour cooking classes taught in your home, at times you request. Led by Chef Alekka Sweeney, a pastry instructor at Kendall College, classes cost about $65 per person but can be more or less expensive depending on how many people are in the session. Lessons include food, aprons, recipes for everything you make and a goody bag with equipment. The “I Love Chocolate” class, which teaches you to make lollipops, turtles, truffles, fudge and nut toffee, is especially popular. Give Me Some Sugar also offers monthly classes at TipsyCake (1043 N. California Ave.) for $65. The next available one is March 15.
The payoff: A meal where you’ll take away skills instead of just leftovers.
