Chicago’s Jennifer Hudson picked up her second award of the week Thursday — the NAACP’s new artist honors, The Associated Press reports. Among the other winners: Beyonce for female artist; hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons was given the Vanguard Award. The show coincides with the 100th anniversary of the NAACP and kicks off a yearlong centennial celebration.

Neither Chris Brown, who lost the male artist trophy to Jamie Foxx, nor Rihanna, up for female artist, attended the event.

– UPDATE: Chris Brown changed the relationship status on his private Facebook page to “single,” the New York Post reports.
