‘The Pink Panther 2’
RATED PG, 92 MINUTES
Once again, Steve Martin plays French inspector Jacques Clouseau in this sequel to the 2006 film “The Pink Panther.” This time around, he’s joined by inspectors from all around the world. The cast includes Alfred Molina (“Spiderman 2”), Andy Garcia (“Oceans 11”), as well as John Cleese. Their job is to track down the world’s most precious items, including the infamous Pink Panther diamond. The jokes are pretty much what you’d expect from the series — there is a lot of dumb comedy and physical comedy. I’m not saying it’s not funny, I’m saying it doesn’t really bring anything new to the table. The members of the all-star cast each have their own funny moments, but you just can’t beat Martin. I’d really love to see him play a goofy French guy in a movie that wasn’t titled “The Pink Panther.” As funny as it is, “Pink Panther 2” does nothing new, but it does its job. “Hamburger!”

‘Mason’
By Thomas Pendleton, 256 pages
As I began reading “Mason,” I knew it wasn’t your typical teen novel. It’s darker. It’s riskier. It’s better.
Mason is not your ordinary teen. He can barely add or subtract, and retains a childlike innocence that most people have lost by high school. Mason has one talent that sets him far apart — he can draw mind pictures. Mind pictures can drive people insane, and when Mason’s evil brother discovers his talents, he’s not willing to let Mason escape his grip.
“Mason” is the most unique novel I have read in a long time. As you read, you will grow to care for the characters. It is a rare book that effectively sparks emotion in a person’s heart. If you are willing to take up the challenge of being stimulated intellectually and emotionally, pick up this book. It’s definitely worth reading.
It’s even on Mayor Daley’s Book Club list for high school students.

‘Legend of the Seeker’
WGN, Saturdays, 3 and 4 p.m.
Richard Cypher (Craig Horner), the seeker, is destined to kill Darken Rahl (Craig Parker), whose enslavement of the world has spread beyond his home town.
While on this quest, the seeker befriends a confessor, Kahlan Amnell (Bridget Regan), who can reveal the truth of any person with a touch, after which the person loves her. However, she can love no one due to her power. Richard has also discovered that the man he thought to be crazy is really a wizard, Zeddicus Zu’l Zorander (Bruce Spence), who has protected Richard since he was a baby.
Now he assists him in his quest to fulfill the prophecy. With every episode, Richard comes closer to killing Darken.
Each episode keeps viewers hooked. The seeker is not only on a mission to destroy Darken Rahl, but he also acts as a savior to the innocent.
