An Elgin man charged with killing his roommate was found dead in his truck at a Downstate rest stop, police said Wednesday.
Jerimie Hoppe, 31, is believed to have shot himself in the head in his pickup truck at a rest stop on Interstate Highway 55 near McLean, Elgin Police Deputy Chief Jeff Swoboda said. Hoppe was found Tuesday.
Hoppe had been sought on a warrant charging him with murder in the shooting death Sunday of Sumaly Phanthavong, 31, in the 500 block of Page Avenue, Swoboda said.
