These tips from beauty bloggers: 1. Blush: Not just for cheeks. Sweep it around your hairline for instant radiance. 2. Condition before shampooing. Comb conditioner through your hair, then shampoo (without rinsing the conditioner). 3. Mix mascara: Try dark black on top lashes and a lighter shade on bottoms. 4. Get a glass nail file: It smooths nails better than a standard emery board. Want more tips? How about these work style cues you can take from Michelle Obama: 1. Lose the neutrals in favor of rich purples and reds. 2. Try super-sleek sheaths. (But make sure they fit. No riding up when you walk.) 3. Wear grown-up prints — florals are fine, but not in pastels. 4. Accessorize like you mean it with wide belts, big brooches and gumball-size pearls (not all at once, of course). 5. Simplify. Speaking of Michelle Obama, she’s O’s April cover girl (alongside Oprah, of course). Obama lays the pregnancy rumors to rest — “I was like, baby bump? As hard as I work on my abs?!” — and elaborates on why she makes exercise a priority. “I realized that my happiness is tied to how I feel about myself. I want my girls to see a mother who takes care of herself, even if that means I have to get up at 4:30 so I can do a workout.” Most intriguing were her comments about “re-engineering support” for women, many of whom no longer have their extended family nearby to help with work-family challenges, she said. Amen!

Uh-oh, everyone: Shoulder pads sure are persistent on the comeback trail. Don’t sweat it, or go sewing them into your jackets just yet, but we’re just sayin’ … or rather, Vogue’s April edition is, noting that the season’s “it” silhouette involves strong shoulders that dive into pin-straight lines. Other trends Vogue spotlights for spring include flirty dresses with dual hemlines (mini in front, long and flowy in back), hot pink accents and a mirrored mani that, well, nails it (minxnails.com for salons). And if you’re looking to score the illusion of mile-long legs (who isn’t?), slip on a pair of flesh-toned, ultra-high heels.
