SIU-bound Aarron Snyder threw four shutout innings and Angelo Gargano hit a two-run homer to lead visiting Grayslake Central to a victory in its opener.

Maine West 11, Rolling Meadows 2
Ryan Tuntland had three doubles and four RBIs and Tommy Ross added a pair of doubles and four RBIs for Maine West. John Perez earned the win on the mound. Kyle Winkler and Pat Conlin drove in runs for Rolling Meadows (1-1).

Sycamore 2, Burlington Central 1

West Aurora 13, Oswego East 6
Cory Walden earned the victory on the mound and helped his cause with a 3-for-3 effort (HR, double, 3 RBIs). Other hitting stars for West Aurora included Nate Strusz (3-for-4, 2b, 2 RBIs), Brandon Lawrence (2-for-3), Tony Gaffino (2-for-3) and Brian Kirhofer (2-run HR).

Minooka 1, Andrew 0
Dan Cooper’s RBI single in the top of the seventh inning was the difference for Minooka (1-0). Each team had only two hits on the day. Brett Moss tossed four no-hit innings for Andrew (1-1), striking out five.

Kelly 12, Kennedy 5
Kelly won its season-opener behind Eric Portales’ complete game (6 strikeouts). Rodrigo Rodriguez’s 3 RBIs paced Kelly’s offense.

Huntley 9, Belvidere 1
Huntley improved to 2-0-1 behind Craig Lipp (2-for-4, 2B, 2 R), Phil Pupillo (2B, R, 2 RBIs), Chris Klein (2B, 2 R, RBI), Garrick Penrod (2-for-2, 2 RBIs) and Zach Luebman (H, R, RBI). Junior Rodriguez (1-0) allowed two hits and an earned run over six innings.

Highland Park 8, Von Steuben 7
Highland Park improved to 4-0 behind winning pitcher AJ Nathan (2B, 3B, run, 2 RBIs; IP, 3 K) and Jon Menke (2-run HR, sac fly, 3 RBIs; 2 2/3 IP, 1 run 3 Ks).

Marshall 12, Perspecites 4
Freshman Maurice Martin earned the victory with 7 strikeouts. Tywone Kelly was 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs and 5 stolen bases for Marshall (3-1).

Pitcher Andy Noble (7 hits, ER, 9 Ks, 2 BB) earned the victory for Elmwood Park (2-0).

Jay Osika (2-0) struck out 10 in the complete-game victory for Lisle (2-1).

Morris rallied from a 9-1 deficit for the dramatic season-opening victory. The Redskins scored seven runs in the fifth inning to pull within 9-8, took the lead with a two-run sixth and put the game away when Justin Porter hit a 3-run homer in the seventh inning.

For ACC (0-5), Mark Brauweiler had a double and 2 RBIs.

Montini 2, Lyons Township 1 (8)
Jeff Spokas’ double drove in Jared Jayne in the top of the eighth inning to lift Montini (2-0). Jayne picked up the victory in relief.

Barrington 8, Oak Park 2 (5, darkness)
With the game tied 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Anthony Brignola hit a grand slam to lift Barrington (2-0-1). Oak Park is 0-1.

Glenbard South 9, Willowbrook 4
Joe Ramirez had two doubles and an RBI and Brandon Phillips was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for Glenbrook South (2-1).

Riverside-Brookfield 11, St. Joseph 1 (5)
Alex Brown allowed three hits and struck out seven for R-B (3-1). Kevin Onischuk was 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs and Joe Ruge had two hits and five RBIs).

Streator 3, Reed-Custer 0
Gunthar Libby threw a four-hit shutout for Streator, which hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning.

Tony Cosentino and John Smith combined for no-hitter and six strikeouts for Evergreen Park (EP: 1-2). Geno Rizzo had a home run, double, 2 RBIs and scored twice.

Fenwick improved to 2-0 behind Joe Horrigan (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBIs).

Brett Bennick struck out seven in three innings to earn the victory for Eisenhower (1-1). Rob Easton went 2-for-4 with a triple and 3 RBIs.

Danny Castenda allowed two hits and struck out six in three innings pitched for Washington. Miguel Valdivia was 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and struck out six in his two innings on the mound.

Pitcher Brad Jareczek (R, H, 3 Ks; 0 BB) earned the win for Richards (2-1). Ben Dafgard had two triples and four RBIs for the winners.

Winning pitcher Bryan Emmanuel had three hits and an RBI.

Ryan McMahon tossed a three-hit shutout and Jack Rauen was 1-for-4 with 3 RBIs for Tinley Park (2-1).

Plainfield, which scored eight first-inning runs, pounded out 11 hits in the victory.

Jeremy Wilson (2-0) tossed a four-hitter, allowing an unearned run and striking out 12.

Mike Urgo pitched three innings, allowing a hit and striking out six for the victory. Ryan Pacyga hit a home run and scored twice, and David Gustafson added an RBI single for Nazareth.

Steve Wheeler drew four walks and scored three runs, Drew Turk was 1-for-1 with two walks and Bobby Hanson had two hits, a walk and two RBIs for Plainfield South.

Kahla Nolan (2-0) struck out nine and walked five for Wheaton North (2-2). Kirsten Krzyzewski had two hits, Paige Wilson had a double, three walks and scored three times, Paige Evangelista was 3-for-4 with a triple and three runs scored and Sarah Leahy had two hits scored twice for the winners.

Brianna Conaway had two doubles, a triple, two RBIs and scored four runs for Yorkville (1-0-1).

For South (0-1), Sophie Kessler had two hits and scored a run, Amanda Harrison had two doubles, Miranda hill was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Sam Sciakitano had a hit, run and RBI.

Mother McAuley 10, Lincoln-Way North 6
For North (3-1), Laura Iverson hit a home run but took the loss. Kelsi Dilger and Melanie Kachinsky each had a double and two RBIs and Collen Culligan had two hits.

Riverside-Brookfield 9, Addison Trail 1
R-B scored seven runs in the third innig and cruised to the victory.

Cara DeLange was the star in her varsity debut, going 3-for-4 with a home run, double and three RBIs. She also picked up the win, allowing a hit and walking a batter while striking out six.

Freshman Brianna Cavin tossed a 4-hitter and struck out 13 for the victory.

Oak Park 8, Morton 1
Leah Bry (1-0) allowed four hits and one earned run and struck out 11 in the victory. Oak Park improved to 2-0 behind the offense of Megan White (3-for-4, 2 2B, run, RBI), Lauren Flannery (2B, R, 3 RBIs), Janie Brennan (2-for-4, R), Mara Blesoff (2-for-4, RBI) and Lauren Gonzalez (1-for-2, 2 runs, RBI).

Marian Catholic 11, Andrew 2
Marian jumped to a 7-1 lead after two innings and finished the game with a four-run sixth inning to win its season-opener. For Andrew (0-1), Brooke McDermott had two singles and drove in two runs.

De La Salle improved to 5-0 as winning pitcher Rebecca Brazl struck out eight.

Erika Veen and Rachel Menor combined for a no-hitter. Both struck out four in three innings. Jill Postregna was 2-for-4 with a grand slam, and Katie Pearson was 3-for-3 with a double, triple and two RBIs for Oak Lawn (1-1).

Lincoln-Way Central 1, Illiana Christian 0
Jackie Dugan struck out 15 and allowed only three hits, and Alison Towery’s single drove in Lauren Hickey with the game’s only run in the seventh inning as Central won its season-opener. Jocelyn Oppenhuis was the tough-luck loser, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out nine. Alicia Smit had two of her team’s three hits for Illiana (2-2).

Nicole Spisak was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk and an RBI for Leyden (1-1).

Theresa Urchell threw a no-hitter, striking out nine for Evergreen Park. Casey Christopher hit a grand slam and had 5 RBIs, and Allie Bacheler was 2-for-2 with a triple and four RBIs.

Katelyn Jakobsen struck out 10 in the win, allowing a hit and three walks. Brittany Fanella was 2-for-3 with a run, RBI and two stolen bases.

For Reavis (2-1), Nicole Stuczynski was 5-for-5 with a home run and three runs, Lauren Klenn was 3-for-4 with a pair of homers and five RBIs and Caitlyn Balandis had a home run and three RBIs.

Brianna Wolfe improved to 3-1, striking out nine and allowing a walk for De Sales (4-4, 2-0 GCAC White). Melony Miles was 3-for-4 with five RBIs.
