What it’s about: Art Bechstein (Foster), the son of a mobster (Nolte), is just out of college and struggling to find his own identity. He gets a job in a bookstore, where he has sex among the stacks with his boss, Phlox (Suvari), until he’s drawn into becoming the third wheel to the unpredictable Cleveland Arning (Sarsgaard) and his girlfriend, Jane (Miller). Things get complicated, to say the least.
