CTA, Cricket ink deal
Cricket Communications has signed a 10-year agreement to lease the CTA’s wireless communications infrastructure in the Red Line and Blue Line subways, CTA officials will announce Monday. The transit agency will be paid $22,250 per month by Cricket, officials said. Cricket joins Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular in offering wireless service in the subway. The CTA expects to add more service providers to the system, allowing more customers to use their wireless devices underground, officials said.
Mob secrets leaked?
Once known as a tireless bloodhound who tracked down fugitive gang leaders, deputy U.S. marshal John Ambrose now faces years behind bars if he is convicted of betraying his oath and leaking secrets to the mob. Ambrose, 50, is due to go on trial Monday for tipping off organized crime figures that a so-called made member of the Chicago mob had switched sides. Ambrose denies he ever broke the law in handling secret information.
2 sought in Logan Square shooting
Chicago police said Sunday they are searching for two men who opened fire Saturday on another vehicle driven by a 58-year-old woman on her way to work in Logan Square. The woman was hit by a bullet, but it did not penetrate her skin, said News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak. She did suffer a bruise and declined treatment from paramedics. The incident occurred before 8 a.m. in the 2100 block of North Kedzie Avenue, Kubiak said.
