Council hearing set for parking meters
The City Council will hold hearings on the controversial 75-year lease of Chicago’s parking meters on May 18, Ald. Joe Moore (49th) said Wednesday. The private company that paid$1.2 billion to operate the meters — and immediately raised rates — has come under heavy criticism for botching the transition. The hearing will take place before the council’s Finance Committee, headed by Ald. Edward Burke (14th).
