Sign-ups for SELF Magazine’s Workout in the Park on May 16
Butler Field in Grant Park,
selfworkoutinthepark.com, selfworkout@evolutionimpressions.com
Check it out if you … think it’s time to dust off your running shoes, need to get that bod of yours in shape for swimsuit season or think Jillian Michaels from “The Biggest Loser” could be the one to help you break into a sweat.
The deets: Before you slather on some deodorant and head over to Grant Park for the four-hour Workout in The Park on May 16, you’ll have to sign up. For the past 15 years, this event has made its way to Chicago, offering exercise classes and tons of freebies. This year, Crunch Fitness leaders will teach 20 classes, ranging from the traditional (yoga, Pilates and kickboxing) to the quirky (strutting down the runway on stilettos). “Biggest Loser” trainer Michaels hosts the event. Though it is popular among women 18 to 45, it’s open to all. Workout in the Park starts at 11 a.m. and will run until 3 p.m. May 16. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online or at Grant Park when you arrive with cash. Proceeds go to charity and your ticket comes with a one-year subscription to SELF.
The payoff: Burning enough calories so you can show off that new physique on the beach.
