It’s May, which means one thing in auto racing: Danica-mania is in high gear as the Roscoe, Ill., native makes her annual run at a historic Indianapolis 500. Here’s how Danica Patrick’s month has shaped up so far.
May 1
Time readers vote Patrick as one of the 100 most influential people in the world, joining the likes of President Obama, Zac Efron and Tiger Woods.
May 2
Patrick trades in horsepower for horses, attending her first Kentucky Derby — and wearing a ridiculously large hat on ESPN.
May 7
Lady, start your engine. Patrick begins practicing for the Indy 500 with a fast lap of 223.253 mph. “I have to say I was really happy with the Boost Mobile car this morning,” she said.
Saturday
Patrick qualifies 10th for the Indy 500 with a speed of 222.882 mph, but she’s not happy. “It’s just disappointing because you know that there’s more speed,” she said.
Monday
She joins the Body By Milk campaign with a Got Milk? ad that debuts in magazines. It does a body good? Yes it does.
