For sure, we’re all doing more browsing than buying these days. But even the most frugal among us deserve a little treat now and then, don’t we?
Let me answer that: You bet!
Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of people-watching. And the outfits that catch my eye are go-to closet basics — your serviceable black, tan, navy outfit — perked up with a blast of color. Perhaps it’s a purse, a hat, an arm decked with bangles or even just a pretty scarf all in the colors of tulips from a spring garden.
Store window displays, too, are filled with colorful options to stoke the imagination. “Welcome Back Color,” reads the sign in a Macy’s window. I’ll say.
Brights, even neon shades, are huge this season, but that doesn’t mean you need to spend hundreds to be in fashion. Trust me, you won’t need a loan to acquire a colorful accessory that can amp your fashion score.
To prove it, I went shopping for accessories from head to toe that will perk you up without a big investment of your hard-earned cash.
I set $25 as the most I would spend for any single item, and my goal was to find the highest wattage for the lowest possible outlay. What I found was a huge selection of fun stuff at prices that were lower, much lower, than I expected.
Here’s a cheerful array of frugal finds just to give you an idea of what’s out there to brighten your day — and your look. The most expensive of the lot was $22.80 and — how’s this for bargain lovers? — many cost less than $6.
At those prices, bet you can’t stop at just one.
