‘CSI: NY’
Wednesdays, 9 p.m., CBS
On May 13 we watched a suspenseful episode featuring Detective Stella Bonasera’s unfinished business with her professor and the birth of Danny and Lindsay’s child.
Then, the next night brought the moment all fans were waiting for, the season finale of “CSI: NY.” Unfortunately, the messily-done promos gave away which member of the CSI would be the next “to fall in the line of duty.”
SPOILER ALERT: We saw Flack lose his sweetheart, Jennifer Angell, to the hands of crime. Flack (Eddie Cahill) did an excellent job playing his role. I couldn’t help but feel for him — the two lovebirds had a future together.
However, the same thing keeps bothering me about each of “NY’s” season finales. Frankly, I’m getting the impression that the screenwriters always kill off the character the audience cares about least. True, I wouldn’t like to see someone like Detective Stella or Mac gone, yet I challenge the screenwriters to take a risk and pick a character that the audience cares about a bit more.
The finale wasn’t that deficient though; it had its moments. I looked forward to finding out if Dunbrook was behind many crimes in an attempt to make the police department fall, and I got answers, but I also have many more questions — I was hooked.
I can’t reveal the details of Angell’s, murder, of course. You’ll have to tune in yourself. Nonetheless, beware, you’ll be wishing Season 6 premiered sooner.

‘Manners’
Passion Pit
Listening to “Chunk of Change,” the debut EP that was released last year from Passion Pit, gave me a feeling similar to when I first got into The Postal Service. The cozy, pulsing electronics, the heart-on-sleeve lyrics, the gentle but emotive cooing of the lead singer — I immediately felt a strong connection to the music.
So when it came time for the full-length “Manners” to be released, I certainly had to hold it to high standards. How would the intimate appeal of the lo-fi Passion Pit translate now that they had, you know, a real budget to pay for recording?
Thankfully, “Manners” is just as precious and thrilling as its predecessor. The album is packed with stirring lovelorn anthems that are near impossible for me to listen to without cracking a smile at least once. The songwriting doesn’t suffer from the heightened production values, and neither does the emotional impact. In fact, moments like the brilliant beam of light that is the climax of “Moth’s Wings” would have been near-impossible on Passion Pit’s former incarnation.
I can’t think of any album from this year that has been able to move both my feet and heart so ably.

myrockstar.com
If you like listening to music, you’re going to love myrockstar.com. It’s an online site that’s sort of like having a MySpace page, except it’s all about music.
It’s quite entertaining to search through profile pages for many artists. It also offers features that let you become your favorite artist’s super fan by earning points. You can rate artists, their songs and their albums. The points are obtained quite easily — all you do is upload a photo or take trivia quizzes about a particular musician.
The Web site has a wide range of artists, from metal bands such as Disturbed to pop music stars such as Britney Spears. You’re also able to blog and even comment on that artist that you just can’t make yourself to listen to.
Myrockstar.com is also an easy way to discover new music. I definitely recommend the site for those who love music of any genre.
