The auction for the 14-story, 77-year-old building that has been vacant since 1995 when the Postal Service moved to a new building on Harrison Street will take place Aug. 27. Many ideas have been suggested for the space, including a casino, a water park and a hotel. That’s fine, but we figured RedEye’s Twitter followers would have some more creative ideas. Place your bid with RedEye on Twitter at twitter.com/redeyechicago.
@whatisph I would open the Chicago branch of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
@MrBrownThumb Affordable housing or a stripper bar.
@1uppitynegress I’d open a rec/community center that housed spaces for independent artists to work and showcase their art, also performances
@kristingast Sounds like a great place for some spendy Chi-town lofts!
@chimaribel a Lost & Found where everyone can find all of the mail that was never delivered
@polomex Too easy. Gay bar. “Male Room.”
@David_Tellez I would put a club called redeyechicago (EDITOR’S NOTE: For obvious reasons, this is the idea we’ll be supporting).
