Little Brother: William Massolia’s dramatic adaptation of the Orwellian novel by Cory Doctorow deals with the aftermath of a fictional terrorist attack on San Francisco and a 17-year-old hacker who decides to fight back against the government. Jon: George Saunders’ provocative short story “Jon,” which appeared in The New Yorker in 2003, is partly a savvy spoof of corporate culture in the fashion of “Mad Men” or “The Office,” and partly a dire warning about the damage marketers are doing to our teenagers.
