*COLLEGES: Connecticut men’s basketball coach Jim Calhoun has been hospitalized after he collapsed following a 50-mile charity bicycle ride during which he fell and broke five ribs. Calhoun was listed in good condition. Calhoun, who was kept for observation overnight, fell with 16 miles left in the race in Simsbury, Conn. Moments after he crossed the finished line, he slumped over and fell to the ground. … UCLA guard Jrue Holiday, who averaged 8.5 points as a freshman, decided to remain in the NBA draft and will hire an agent, which makes him ineligible to return to the Bruins. … Andy Wilkins homered and drove in five runs to help Arkansas (40-22) start off the College World Series with a 10-6 victory over Cal State Fullerton (47-15). In the late game, Sean Ochinko and Ryan Schimp homered as LSU (51-16) defeated Virginia 9-5. … Texas senior Alexandria Anderson, a Morgan Park product, won the 100-meter dash in 11.2 seconds, nipping TCU’s Jessica Young at the NCAA track and field championships in Fayetteville, Ark. Anderson came in third in the 200 and was on the Longhorns’ winning 1,600 relay. Illinois junior Angela Bizzarri won the 5,000 meters in 16:17.94. Texas A&M won the men’s and women’s team titles.

*MOTORSPORTS: Colin Braun won his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race — the Michigan 200 — giving team owner Jack Roush his 50th truck victory. The 20-year-old Braun used an unintentional block by a lapped truck to pass Kyle Busch for the lead Saturday with 24 laps to go in the 100-lap race at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich.

*MIXED MARTIAL ARTS: Rich Franklin won a unanimous decision over Wanderlei Silva in a 195-pound fight at UFC 99 in the sport’s first show in Germany. Franklin (27-4), a former UFC middleweight champion, rebounded from a split-decision loss to Dan Henderson in January. Silva (32-10-1) lost for the fifth time in his last six fights.

*TENNIS: Maria Sharapova’s Wimbledon preparations received a setback with a 6-4, 6-4 loss to Li Na of China in the Aegon Classic semifinals in Birmingham, England. … Andy Murray reached his first grass-court final by beating Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-2, 6-4 at the Aegon Championships at Queen’s Club in London.
