White Sox 8, Cubs 7: Gordon Beckham’s two-out single off Jose Ascanio in the ninth lifted the White Sox, who got a solo homer and three RBIs from Scott Podsednik (4-for-5).
Angels 2, Diamondbacks 1: Mike Napoli hit a tie-breaking home run in the ninth to lift Los Angeles, which improved its MLB-best interleague record to 13-4.
Astros 8, Tigers 1: Felipe Paulino scattered three hits and struck out nine in seven innings for Houston. Kaz Matsui’s two-run homer keyed five-run third inning.
Pirates 6, Royals 2: Delwyn Young homered and drove in a career-high four runs to lead Pittsburgh to its fourth straight victory.
Orioles 6, Nationals 3: Nolan Reimold hit a three-run homer and Gregg Zaun and Aubrey Huff added solo shots for Baltimore, which is 4-1 against Washington.
Yankees 5, Mets 0: A.J. Burnett dominated in seven innings, allowing one hit and striking out 10 for the Yankees, who got homers from Jorge Posada and Nick Swisher.
Rays 3, Marlins 2: Willy Aybar’s sacrifice fly drove in Jason Bartlett in the ninth for Tampa Bay, which also got the 23rd homer of the season from Carlos Pena.
Reds 7, Indians 3: Jay Bruce hit his 18th home run and Homer Bailey earned his first big-league win since Sept. 20, 2007, for Cincinnati.
Padres 7, Rangers 3: Rookie Kyle Blanks drove in three runs as San Diego pounded out a season-high 16 hits. Chris Davis hit a solo homer for Texas.
Rockies 11, Athletics 9: Brad Hawpe hit a two-run homer as Colorado homered in each of the first four innings en route to pounding out 16 hits.
Mariners 5, Dodgers 1: Felix Hernandez gave up one unearned run in eight innings with nine strikeouts. Russell Branyan and Ken Griffey homered for Seattle.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Brewers 7, Giants 6: Prince Fielder’s RBI double capped a three-run rally in the ninth off Brian Wilson. Fielder also hit a three-run homer.
