1910: Comiskey Park: then known as White Sox Park, held its first major league game on July 1 with St. Louis Browns winning 2-0.

1990: Andy Hawkins of the Yankees pitched the sixth no-hitter in the majors this season and the third in less than 48 hours, but lost 4-0 to the White Sox on two outfield errors in the eighth inning.

2002: Los Angeles’ Eric Gagne got his 30th save in the Dodgers’ 82nd game. It broke the old record of 30 saves in 83 games by Chicago’s Bobby Thigpen in 1990 and St. Louis’ Lee Smith in 1993.
