*NFL: Authorities in Nashville say former NFL star Steve McNair had a blood-alcohol level twice Tennessee’s legal limit for driving when his girlfriend shot him to death. Tennessee Assistant Medical Examiner Feng Li also said a toxicology report found a trace amount of marijuana in the body of Sahel Kazemi. Police say Kazemi, 20, shot McNair twice in the head and twice in the chest July 4 in a Nashville condo before killing herself and that McNair was likely asleep when he was shot.

*BOXING: Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto will meet Nov. 14 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said after finalizing the 145-pound bout. The fight will be shown on HBO pay-per-view. … Arturo Gatti was remembered as a big-hearted star fighter at his funeral in Montreal, drawing a standing ovation when his mother received a championship belt from the World Boxing Council. More than 1,000 mourners packed Notre Dame de la Defense church to pay respects to the 37-year-old boxer, who was found dead July 11 at a Brazilian resort. Gatti’s wife, Amanda Rodrigues, is being held and has been accused but not charged of strangling her husband as he slept.

*COLLEGES: Police in Starkville, Miss., say Mississippi State running back Anthony Dixon was arrested over the weekend and charged with driving under the influence. Officers found Dixon intoxicated late Saturday with two empty champagne bottles on the floor of his car. … Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz has signed a seven-year contract that will keep him with the Hawkeyes through the 2015 season. … Mississippi defensive end Greg Hardy should be ready for the start of the preseason after a car accident 10 days ago. Hardy was hurt when he and teammate Dexter McCluster were hit by another driver near Pontotoc, Miss. … UNLV’s Mike Hamrick is returning to his alma mater as Marshall’s athletic director.
