More than a week ahead of schedule, Ryan Dempster (left) could rejoin the Cubs as early as Sunday after throwing a simulated game before Wednesday’s game.
“Everything depends on the X-ray,” Dempster said after throwing 60 pitches to Cubs hitters. “I feel good, and I’m following protocol.”
Dempster will have his broken right big toe examined Thursday.
