Sale by sale, the housing market is starting to reclaim some of the territory it lost when the industry’s bubble burst. June sales of existing homes in the Chicago area, while down 8.5 percent from a year ago, nevertheless marked their fifth consecutive month-over-month improvement. Prices, though, remain under pressure, particularly in areas where foreclosures are rampant.
