‘Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List’

Upset by the passage of Proposition 8 banning gay marriage in California, Kathy (foreground right) jumps at the chance to raise money for the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Home for Transitional Living, where she befriends homeless youths who have been abandoned by their families for being gay. Later, after Prop 8 is upheld, Kathy and actress Drew Barrymore appear at a rally in West Hollywood. Melissa Etheridge guest stars.
‘Great American Road Trip’

The five remaining families mark the midpoint of Route 66 by participating in a very messy pie-eating contest, then move on to a hot-air balloon ride in Albuquerque before heading to Arizona’s Meteor Crater for a final challenge. Along the way, however, tensions escalate among some of the contestants.
‘Bells Are Ringing’
7 p.m., TCM
Answering-service operator Ella Peterson (Judy Holliday) adopts a different persona for each client she has in this lightweight 1960 musical romantic comedy. One of her customers, Jeffrey Moss (Dean Martin), is a struggling writer who believes Ella is an old woman whom he calls “Mom.” This doesn’t bode well for her, because she has fallen in love with him. Songs include “Just in Time” and “The Party’s Over.”
‘The Yes Men Fix the World’
8 p.m., HBO
Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno — professional practical jokers who bill themselves as the Yes Men — pose as industrialists to expose Katrina profiteers, the people behind the environmental disaster in Bhopal and other targets. The duo takes on Dow Chemical, Exxon Mobil, Halliburton and the U.S. government, making wildly altruistic statements at odds with corporate interests while pretending to be official spokesmen for these groups.
‘The Bachelorette’
7 p.m., WLS-Ch. 7
Jillian Harris, the 29-year-old Vancouver-based beauty who had her romantic dreams crushed when Jason Mesnick passed her over in the last season of “The Bachelor,” doesn’t have to worry about history repeating itself: She’s the one making her choice for her ideal romantic mate as the hit reality series closes out this season.
