Two shot at Englewood party

A 19-year-old man was found shot to death Saturday evening at a block party in the 900 block of West 61st Street in Englewood, police said. Police found Deontae Smith, 19, of the 6700 block of South Throop Streetwith a gunshot wound to his chest,said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer. Another 17-year-old girl also was found shot in the thigh near the intersection of 61st and Green Streets.

Two shot in vehicles

Two men were fatally shot in vehicles early Sunday not far from one another in West Town. There is no indicationthat the shootings, one in the 1500 block of North Western Avenue and the other in the 1400 block of North California Avenue, were related.

One dead, one hurt in crash

A motorist was killed and his passenger injured when their vehicle drifted off the Eisenhower Expressway early Sunday and hit a tree. Illinois State Police said alcohol played a role in the crash, which happened about 3 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-290 near Kostner Avenue. The driver, Kennon Carter, 25, was dead on the scene, officials said.

Gay priest nominated

About three weeks after the Episcopal Church lifted a de facto moratorium on selecting gay bishops, a Chicago priest in Ravenswood in a committed same-sex relationship has been named one of three nominees for Bishop of Minnesota. Rev. Bonnie Perry, pastor of All Saints Episcopal Church, told her parishioners in a statement on Sunday.
