Colorado 11, Cubs 5

DENVER

The Cubs kept their dismal record against teams with winning records intact as they fell 11-5 to the Colorado Rockies on Sunday in front of 40,217 fans at Coors Field.

The loss means they cannot have a winning record in this four-game series against the Rockies, who moved two games ahead of the Cubs in the National League wild card standings.

Cleveland 8, White Sox 4

On a steamy day, Jamey Carroll and the Cleveland Indians rallied for a win by wearing down Jose Contreras during a long fifth inning. Contreras (4-11) allowed four runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings. He struck out two and walked two. Contreras (above) is 0-4 in his last five outings with a 6.75 ERA and failed to make it out of the fifth inning three times.
