Athletics 6, Orioles 3: Landon Powell homered in a four-run fourth inning as Oakland won its third straight series for the first time since April 2008.
Angels 10, Rays 5: Gary Matthews Jr. put the Angels ahead with three-run homer in the sixth. Howie Kendrick added another three-run shot in the seventh.
Rangers 5, Indians 0: Tommy Hunter scattered six hits over 7 2/3 innings to earn his fifth win for Texas. Josh Hamilton had a two-run double.
Red Sox 8, Tigers 2: Mike Lowell and Jason Bay homered and Josh Beckett allowed two runs on three hits in seven innings to earn his 14th win. Carlos Guillen and Marcus Thames homered for Detroit.
Twins 7, Royals 1: Joe Crede’s three-run homer capped a five-run first for Minnesota. Francisco Liriano gave up three hits and struck out eight in seven innings.
White Sox at Mariners: Chicago’s Mark Buehrle is winless since his July 23 perfect game. Felix Hernandez is 2-2 with a 4.46 ERA against the White Sox.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Mets 6, Diamondbacks 4: Luis Castillo’s pinch RBI single broke an eighth-inning tie and Cory Sullivan added an RBI triple to lift New York.
Giants 4, Dodgers 2: Juan Uribe’s two-run homer won it in the 10th. Los Angeles tied it in the ninth on Andre Ethier’s two-out single off Tim Lincecum.
Braves 6, Nationals 2: Adam LaRoche hit two solo homers, the second of which snapped a tie in the seventh, for Atlanta. Derek Lowe won his fifth straight start.
Astros 14, Marlins 6: Hunter Pence hit a pair of three-run homers and Geoff Blum also homered as Houston piled up 16 hits. Hanley Ramirez homered for Florida.
Cardinals 5, Reds 2: Chris Carpenter earned his seventh win in his last eight starts, striking out 10 in seven innings. Albert Pujols hit his ML-leading 38th homer.
Phillies 12, Cubs 5: Jimmy Rollins and Raul Ibanez each hit three-run homers in an eight-run fourth for Philadelphia. Pedro Martinez gave up three runs in five innings to win in his return.
Padres 6, Brewers 5: Adrian Gonzalez’s double drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh for San Diego. Will Venable and Kevin Kouzmanoff each had two RBIs.
Pirates at Rockies: Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is hitting .460 with four homers and seven doubles in 17 career games against Pittsburgh.
