UPDATE: Chicago police said today that the 9-year-old Austin boy who had been missing since Friday evening has been found safe today. He had spent the night at a friend’s home, police said.
Chicago police were searching for a 9-year-old boy who was last seen Friday when he walked out onto a back porch at the family’s Austin home, according to a community alert issued today.
Zyell Lofton, of the 5100 block of West Monroe Avenue, was last seen by his father at 5:45 p.m. Friday when the boy walked outside, police said.
The boy’s family told police that he frequents Moore Park, 5085 W. Adams St. and was seen by a passerby at the park at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
