3 arrested in robbery, attack

A man and two 15-year-old boys were charged with beating and robbing a Rogers Park man as he walked on the street Friday evening, Chicago Police said Monday. Dwayne Jones, 18, of the 6600 block of North Ashland was ordered held on $75,000 bond Sunday, according to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office. The attack occurred at about 10:45 p.m. in the 1600 block of West Lunt Avenue.

Amtrak delayed after train hits man

A Chicago-bound Amtrak train struck and killed a person 20 miles south of Joliet on Sunday night, causing a 6-hour delay for more than 100 passengers, officials said. Passengers were given snacks and beverages, said Marc Magliari, an Amtrak spokesman. The train finally arrivedat Union Station about 5:15 a.m. Monday.The train was scheduled to leave St. Louis about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, with an 11:10 p.m. arrival in Chicago.

Lincoln Park bomb threat

A man was in custody Monday in Lincoln Park after threatening to blow up the “first CTA bus he saw,” Chicago Police said. The man was on the street in the 2200 block of North Lincoln Park West when he began threatening to bomb a bus and implied that he had a bomb, said Chicago News Affairs Officer Kevin Kilmer. The man had a suspicious package with him, which is being investigated, said Kilmer.

No bond for man accused in slayings

A 24-year-old man charged in connection with a deadly 20-minute crime spreeearlier this month in Humboldt Park was held without bail Monday. Ricardo Marchan, 24, of the 4000 block of West Grand Avenue, is charged with the Aug. 2 murders of Michael Hernandez, 18, and Patrick Cregan, 35, and the armed robberies of two other victims.
