Kennedy won’t run for Senate, governor

Merchandise Mart mogul and political heir Chris Kennedy told supporters Tuesday he isn’t running for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Roland Burris. An aide said that the same holds true for a run for governor. Kennedy is the son of the late Robert F. Kennedy.

Biden visiting Chicago to talk health care

Vice President Joe Biden will visit Mt. Sinai Hospital on Thursday to lead a discussion on health insurance reform, White House officials said. Biden will be accompanied by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. They will appear at the Sinai Community Institute, 2653 W. Ogden Ave. Biden will discuss health care and stress the importance of health insurance reform, including health information technology infrastructure and preventive care, White House officials said.

2nd suspect nabbed in robberies

A second suspect was charged Tuesday in connection with a string of robberies near two South Side Metra stationslast month. Gregg Wilson, 16, of the 7900 block of South Paulina Street, was arrested Monday and charged as an adult. Detectives were able to identify Wilson and accomplice Lee Mintz of the 8500 block of South Ingleside Avenue through Metra video surveillance photos. Mintz was arrested Aug. 12.
