*The Buffalo Grove Fire Department’s Fill the Boot campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association will be held from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Lake Cook Road and Arlington Heights Road; 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 28 at Dundee and Buffalo Grove Roads; and during Buffalo Grove Days from 8:45 to 9:15 p.m. Sept. 5 at the pre-concert, during the parade on Sept. 6, and in the first-aid tent during the festival from Sept. 3 to 7.
FUNDRAISERS
*Oakton at Arlington, the 18th annual Oakton Community College Educational Foundation fundraiser, will begin at noon Aug. 29 at Arlington Park, 2200 W. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights. There will be a buffet lunch, four-hour open bar and a silent auction. Tickets cost $85. Call 847-635-1893.
*On the Go 2009, a charity motorcycle run, will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Woodstock Harley-Davidson, 2050 S. Eastwood Drive. A continental breakfast will be followed by a 40-mile ride to Shark City Billiards, 2240 Bloomingdale Rd., Glendale Heights. Non-riders may join the after-party garden barbecue, pool tournaments, door prizes, raffles and silent auction at noon at Shark City. The cost is $20 for one rider, $25 for rider and passenger, and $20 for non-riders. *A Moment in Time, the annual end-of-summer fundraiser for the Mt. Prospect Historical Society, will be held from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Friday in Bogie’s Ale House, 303 E. Kensington Rd., Mt. Prospect. Admission is $15 and includes pizza buffet, a split-the-pot raffle, time-related silent auction and live entertainment by the band 5000 South. The evening will also feature the opening of the Randhurst time capsule which was placed in 1962. Proceeds will benefit the historical society’s operating fund. *Lake Forest High School’s boys soccer team will hold a Blue versus Gold alumni game at 7 p.m. Friday between the team’s games at the varsity fields at Lake Forest High School West Campus, 300 S. There will be a raffle and alumni participating in the game will be asked to make a donation to the Max Schewitz Foundation, a not-for-profit raising funds for research and prevention of sudden cardiac arrest. *The Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Club will hold its annual Goose Dropping Contest during the “Goose is Loose” festival from 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Libertyville Sports & Fitness Complex, 1950 N.
