Felony charge dropped

Blackhawks star Patrick Kane was indicted Wednesday in Buffalo on misdemeanor assault and theft charges after he was accused of beating up a cab driver over a fare dispute. The grand jury dismissed a more serious felony charge of second-degree robbery, said Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita III. At a U.S. Olympic hockey camp, Kane said he had not heard any details about the indictment and wanted to talk first with his lawyer. Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday.

Peavy addresses rehab

While Jake Peavy returned to U.S. Cellular Field on Wednesday to rejoin his teammates, it now appears he might not make his White Sox debut until the end of an 11-game trip at the earliest.

“I don’t think that’s smart,” Peavy said of focusing on a return date. “The time when I go out and am able to get six or seven innings under my belt, feeling good, knowing I’m able to execute a pitch in the seventh as well as I can do it in the first, and throw the ball where I want to at 100 percent, when I see that day, we’re going to go from there.”
