Tobey Maguire plays Red Pollard, a former prizefighter who becomes an unlikely jockey — in the same sense that Seabiscuit is a long shot to become a champion. Jeff Bridges and Chris Cooper are excellent in their respective roles as the horse’s owner and trainer.
