Didn’t your mother ever tell you not to play with matches? Apparently for comedian Brian Brushwood, parental warnings about getting too close to dangerous objects went unheeded. Some magicians use pretty doves or furry rabbits as props for their routine of tricks. Not Brushwood. This spiky-haired “prankster” loves to impress audiences with bizarre antics that need to be seen to be believed. Whether he’s eating fire, breaking a cinder block over his head, driving needles through his palm or sticking nails into his eyes and nose, Brushwood knows how to steal the spotlight and focus all eyes on him. Noon Wednesday, Harper College, 1200 W. Algonquin Rd., Palatine. Free; 847-925-6242 or harpercollege.edu.
