*A story in Friday’s main news section incorrectly stated that Navy Pier officials were launching hot-air balloon rides. The balloon is to be filled with helium.

*A news story Aug. 10, based on information from the city clerk’s office, stated that Ald. William J.P. Banks had not officially submitted his resignation. The clerk’s office later said that information was incorrect and that Banks had indeed turned in the resignation. The story referred to City Council rules for sitting aldermen, and Banks’ resignation does not become effective until Aug. 31.

*The Thursday obituary of CBS news executive Don Hewitt said his father worked for the Boston Herald American. When Hewitt’s father worked for the newspaper, it was called the Boston American.
