What’s the craziest thing that’s ever happened to the band?
Well, I remember one time with Dirty Faces [Wyatt’s original high school group], … we were playing a show and I had a triple keyboard stand [and] … it fell over. But Allan was on the side of the stage right next to me and he just lept up on stage and the stuff fell on him. That way, it didn’t fall to the ground. That was pretty wild.
Most random moment in the group’s history?
We do a version of “Benny and the Jets.” … We wanted to try something going into the song that was a little bit funkier and unexpected. I thought, “Let’s do that famous Jackson 5 piano intro that everybody knows. This’ll throw ’em off and they’ll be really surprised.” Then, literally, the next day Michael Jackson dies. So, we do it and everybody’s like, “Oh, it’s a Michael Jackson tribute.” It was kind of a weird coincidence. M.S.
