Talk about a targeted vacation deal. Cougars — those older women who love younger men — will be sailing the high seas this winter.

The Singles Travel Company and the Society of Single Professionals are sponsoring the supposedly first-ever International Cougar Cruise on Dec. 4-7, aboard Carnival Cruise Lines’s Fun Ship Elation. It departs from San Diego and visits Ensenada, Mexico. According to a press release, rates are priced from $125 (per person, double-occupancy) plus port charges and government fees.

“2009 is The Year of the Cougar, according to Newsweek’s cover story,” Ann Thomas, executive director of The Singles Travel Company, was quoted as saying in the release. “We were surprised to discover that there has never been an International Cougar Cruise. Obviously this cruise is long overdue!”

Miss Cougar America, who will be crowned on Friday at the National Single Cougars Convention in Palo Alto, Calif., will be the guest of honor on the cruise. Cougars and Cubs (younger men who like older women) are invited. For more info, go to singlestravelcompany.com.
