AMERICAN LEAGUE

Tigers 6, Rays 2: Gerald Laird and Adam Everett connected on back-to-back two-run doubles in a five-run fourth for Detroit. Brandon Inge hit his 25th homer of the season.

Yankees 5, White Sox 2: Robinson Cano hit a three-run homer off Randy Williams in the 10th. Derek Jeter and Johnny Damon also homered.

Twins 3, Rangers 2: Brian Duensing gave up one run on three hits in seven innings for Minnesota. Jason Kubel’s RBI triple keyed a three-run first.

Orioles 13, Indians 4: Nick Markakis and Felix Pie homered and Matt Wieters was 3-for-4 with four RBIs for Baltimore. Matt LaPorta homered for Cleveland.

Red Sox 6, Blue Jays 5: David Ortiz scored the go-ahead run on a fielder’s choice in the eighth inning for Boston, which got a two-run homer from Jason Bay.

Mariners 6, Royals 3: Josh Wilson drove in three runs and Felix Hernandez earned his 13th win for Seattle. Mitch Maier hit a two-run homer for Kansas City.

Angels 11, Athletics 7: Kendry Morales went 5-for-5 with two homers, including a go-ahead three-run blast in the seventh, and six RBIs for Los Angeles.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Cubs 5, Mets 2: Alfonso Soriano cracked a tiebreaking three-run homer off Brian Stokes to cap off a four-run eighth inning. New York has dropped six of its last seven.

Reds 4, Dodgers 2: Homer Bailey pitched eight shutout innings as Cincinnati won its fifth straight. Manny Ramirez struck out with the bases loaded to end it.

Cardinals 3, Nationals 2: Albert Pujols hit a game-winning homer in the ninth off Jason Bergmann. Khalil Greene had tied it with a solo shot in the eighth for St. Louis.

Padres 9, Marlins 5: Kyle Blanks hit a two-run homer and Evereth Cabrera, David Eckstein and Will Venable also had two RBIs apiece for San Diego.

Brewers 8, Pirates 6: Prince Fielder ripped a three-run homer in a five-run first for Milwaukee. Andrew McCutchen homered and drove in four runs for Pittsburgh.

Phillies 4, Braves 2: Ryan Howard homered twice to lift Philadelphia. Jamie Moyer gave up one run on four hits in 4 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win.

Diamondbacks 14, Astros 7: John Hester hit a two-run pinch homer in his first career at-bat for Arizona. Alex Romero and Miguel Montero also went deep.

Giants 2, Rockies 0: Tim Lincecum scattered four hits and struck out eight in eight innings to earn his 13th win. Pablo Sandoval hit a solo homer and Eugenio Velez added an RBI single.
