To all you eco-haters out there: What exactly is the matter with you?
You know who you are. You have your groceries double-bagged — even though you’ve purchased only a pack of gum and a frozen meal. You toss bottles into the trash can even when there’s a recycling bin next to it. And, of course, you’re the ones who mock others when they do anything to go green.
Is it a lack of awareness? A general disinterest? Please, I really want to know.
I don’t doubt that some of you have legitimate concerns, such as the recent outbreak of consumerism around all things eco-friendly. I have my concerns too — especially when it comes to Chicago’s recycling program. But maybe we can work through it.
In the meantime, could you do just one thing for me, please? Stop with the bottled water — Chicago’s tap water won’t kill you, I swear.
