Haskins, Reed win Triathlon
Sarah Haskins of Colorado Springs and Matt Reed of Boulder, Colo., won the Chicago Triathlon on Sunday. Julie Diben and Andy Potts both crashed during the bike phase of the event. Reed, 33, won the 2008 U.S. Olympic triathlon trials and finished 32nd in the Olympics. Haskins, 28, finished 11th in Beijing and was second in the 2008 world championships.
‘Red Line Robber’ nabbed
Authorities have arrested a man from Roseland who they believe is the “Red Line Robber,” a suspect alleged to have robbed at least nine banks along the CTA line during the last year, the FBI said Saturday. Lance Dennie, 44, has been charged with one count of bank robbery in connection with an incident at a Charter One Bank branch at 33 W. Grand Ave. June 8.
2 arrested after long chase
Rosemont police arrested two men Friday after they led officers on a high speed chase that started there, passed through O’Hare, went onto the Kennedy Expressway and ended about 10 miles away on the Northwest Side at Fullerton and Oak Park Avenues, according to police. Just before the chase started, employees at the Rosewood Restaurant called police to report a car in the parking lot pulling into and backing out of spaces, police said.
