FUNDRAISERS

*Celebrations XI, a house walk sponsored by Children’s Memorial Hospital’s Northwest Suburban Guild, will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 18 beginning at Honquest Furniture for Living, 1455 S. Barrington Rd., Barrington, and includes three private estates and a historic Queen Anne-style residence. Theodore Alexander’s Althorp House collection based on the ancestral home of Diana, Princess of Wales, will also be featured. A boutique will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and lunch will be available for advance ticket purchasers. Tickets cost $50 online through Friday at events.org/nwsg. Tickets will also be available the day of the event. Proceeds will benefit the hospital’s Family Services Department.

*The 12th annual golf outing to benefit SEDOL (Special Education District of Lake County ) Foundation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 14 at Stonewall Orchard Golf Course, 25675 W. Illinois Highway 60, Grayslake. The cost is $300 and includes lunch, cocktails, buffet dinner and gifts. Dinner-only reservations are also available. *The Celebrity Golf Classic to benefit Assistance in Healthcare will begin at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at Royal Melbourne Country Club, 4700 Royal Melbourne Drive, Long Grove. The cost is $395 and includes 18 holes of golf, lunch buffet, cocktail reception, dinner and live auction. Dinner only is $100. More than 20 former NFL celebrities will participate. *”Sunday Tea Time in the Garden” will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 13 at Chicago Botanic Garden, McGinley Pavilion, 1000 Lake Cook Rd., Glencoe. There will be a traditional British tea service, private English garden tours, children’s entertainment and tram tours of the gardens. Attire is summer Sunday best (no jeans) and women are encouraged to wear hats for a hat contest. The cost is $75, or $25 for ages 11 and younger. *Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital’s annual gala, “Pearls of Life: 30 Years of Doing Good,” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Kocourek Family Estate in Barrington Hills. Cocktails will be followed by dinner, auction and dancing. *McHenry County Conservation District needs volunteers for habitat restoration from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Marengo Ridge, meet at Shelter 1, 2411 S. Illinois Highway 23, Marengo; and 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Pleasant Valley, meeting at the parking lot, 13315 Pleasant Valley Rd., Woodstock.

*A planning meeting for “Sleepout for Shelter” will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Room B166-167 at McHenry County College, 8900 U.S. Highway 14, Crystal Lake. The countywide Sleepout for Shelter will be held April 17, 2010, and youth groups and adults are needed to plan and raise funds for McHenry County PADS. *Turning Point, McHenry County’s domestic violence advocate, will offer Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence-approved training beginning Sept. 10 at McHenry County College, 8900 U.S. Highway 14, Crystal Lake. The 40-hour training is required for direct service volunteers who have direct contact with domestic violence victims through counseling. The fee is $85 for Turning Point volunteers and $340 for community members not planning to volunteer. Registration is required. Call Jennifer Kenning at 815-338-8081.
